WHICH IS THE BEST METHOD FOR A HAIR TRANSPLANT?

Hair loss is one issue that impacts men and women all across the globe. It is normal to lose about 100 strands a day, but it is considered to be hair loss only when these lost strands don’t grow back with time. In addition, men and women experience hair loss differently. For example, women experience hair thinning and widening hair parting. In contrast, men experience hair loss with hair being left behind in a horseshoe shape. With the advancement in technology, Hair Transplant Toronto also has advanced. FUE and FUT are two of the most popular hair transplant techniques that can help you have a fuller head.

FUT

FUT is the transplant technique which is also known as the “strip method.” It is an older form of hair transplant in which an incision is made at the back of the head by the surgeon to extract a long strip of the scalp from which the hair follicles are to be removed. After the strip has been pulled, the incisions are carefully stitched together. The surgeon dissects the healthy grafts from the strip which has been extracted. The procedure is long and tedious and sometimes requires a lot of technicians to help transfer the grafts. Once the transplant has been done, a scar is left behind, hidden by having long hair. This scar could stretch because of tension or overproduction of scar tissues. No hair would grow on this band, and it would be visible if you cut a portion.

FUE

Follicular unit extraction or FUE is an advanced way of hair transplantation. In this procedure, a graft by graft extraction technique is used in which a small hand-held device is used to cut tiny cylinders of the scalp to get the follicle out. The device is robotic-assisted and works wonderfully to extract small and precise follicles and re-implant them to produce nature-looking results. The follicles are removed one by one from the donor site. The follicles are extracted from throughout the scalp, so there is no visible depletion. One of the pros of this procedure is that there is so little scarring that it is not visible to the naked eye, and no stitches and bandages are used.

Which is the best method?

FUE is now becoming a more preferred method of hair transplant as there is no visible scarring. However, which method would be best suited for your needs depends on the amount of hair loss you are facing and the number of needed grafts. If the number of grafts required is high and the hair loss is severe, then the FUT method would be the best and most suited choice for you. After having undergone a FUT hair transplant, many people also prefer to undergo FUE to fill in and disguise the strip scar. FUR procedure can repeat a couple of times. So if you are okay with a gradual process of getting the thicker hair, you should opt for it.
